Typology and Writing

I recently took a Typology test, while the majority of my results was accurate, I believe a few just aren't quite on the money. My results was introversion (shy) over extroversion. I definitely agree with this one, I am quite reserved and prefer to work alone. I honestly just believe life is much simpler and easier to understand when you are given the time to sit by yourself and truly take a look at the things around you without the distraction of others. I think this relates to the way I write because it is very hard for me to incorporate a lot of detail into my writing because I am a very reserved person and enjoy keeping all of my thoughts my thoughts. I hope this course will assist me in stepping out of my comfort zone and be able to write freely and honestly.

My second group of results was sensing over intuition. The way I understand these results is that I focus more on what it happening at this exact moment rather than focusing on what is going to happen in the future. To me, this is both true and false. I do focus a lot on what is happening in the here and now, because I believe it is very important to have an understanding of what is happening around you, but having a child you can't help but also focus a lot on the future. This is helpful in my writing because I know I will be a more successful writer if I use facts and data rather than just hoping the information is correct.

My last two sets of results, I believe, are one in the same. I got feeling over thinking and perceiving over judging. I think these both sum up to mean I focus on my own feelings and the feelings of others rather than trying to be a problem solver, I believe having the ability to express feelings and ideas is much more important than over-thinking and trying to solve all the problems. This will be helpful in my writing because I will be able to add more feelings and emotional ties that leave the reader to decided what the correct solution to the given problems may be.

  1. Alexis,
I completely agree with your introversion over extroversion paragraph. I also got the same score and think pretty much the same thing that you do. On the sensing over intuition, I got the opposite score. I am one of those people that plan, now I expect things to change and will go along with it, but I just like to know that I know what is going to happen in my future.
